- Defining, leading, and executing R&D programs focused on improving the technical value proposition of Tyvek® nonwovens in the market.
- Act as the product technology focal point with Marketing Managers, Product Managers, and Application Technology Leaders to develop market participation strategies with different and new product families based on advanced flash spinning technology.
- Design of experiments related to flash-spinning of new polymers, polymer blends and additives, and polymer solutions, including formulation of optimized ingredients and process conditions.
- Identifying, assessing, and developing new or improved lab and pilot scale capabilities.
- Developing methods for monitoring product performance across multiple processing steps.
- Ability to apply fundamental scientific and engineering principles inform product development.
- Developing fundamental mechanistic understanding of product characteristics.
- Communicating analyses and findings through technical reports and presentations.
- Participate in supplier discussions to identify new or improved process ingredients.
- Actively developing new intellectual property (IP) and ensure IP is appropriately managed and defended for the market segment.
- Understanding the regulatory and competitive landscape, with good comprehension of relevant IP.
- Propose process and product improvements which maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Collaborating in global, cross-functional teams, represented by various technical and non-technical disciplines.
- Partnering with other scientists and engineers to scale new processes and products to commercial production and introduction to market.
- Actively seeking and partnering with internal and external consultants, vendors, and other entities to execute programs.
- PhD or MSc in Chemistry, Polymer Science and Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines
- Knowledge in two or more of the following areas: product development; process and/or product scale-up; analytical chemistry, polymer processing, chemistry, and/or physics; polymer characterization; thermodynamics; intellectual property development; quality assurance; standards development / regulatory compliance; project management.
- Not required, but is a plus: Knowledge of biostatistics and microbiological quantification methods. Experience in implementation & improvement of microbiological testing methods, lab and/or manufacturing risk assessments and risk mitigation, Biosafety Level (BSL) standards & practices, and proper use and maintenance of Class II Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs).
- Previous professional experience, preferably in research or manufacturing roles.
