Working model: On-site with some flexibility depending on project phaseKey Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical assemblies and subsystems for spaceflight applications, including load-bearing structures, mechanisms, and passive thermal hardware
- Support early concept studies, trade-offs, and technical feasibility activities
- Produce robust CAD models, drawings, and manufacturing documentation
- Perform structural and thermal verification using numerical analysis methods, including finite-element modelling
- Drive iterative design improvements focused on performance, mass, robustness, and manufacturability
- Interface with internal teams and external suppliers across the project life cycle
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong experience in mechanical design within aerospace, space, defence, or other high-reliability engineering environments
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or similar
- Experience working with controlled design data and configuration management tools
- Solid understanding of structural mechanics, materials, and thermal behaviour
- Practical experience using FEA tools for static, dynamic, and thermal analysis
- Familiarity with precision manufacturing methods such as CNC machining and additive manufacturing
- Supporting hardware through build, test, and qualification
- Prior exposure to space or flight hardware
- Basic scripting or numerical analysis skills (e.g. MATLAB or Python)
