  • Help plants to improve their key technical parameters and to meet customer requirements at the lowest possible cost, support industrialisation of new products (process)
  • Create competitive differentiation through enhanced or unique functionality, superior quality of our products, while ensuring their manufacturability and delivery to our customers at the lowest possible cost (products)
  • Help our customers to make the best possible use of our advanced product range
  • Showcase practical examples of the most advanced products
  • Present a complete solution to the market with higher added value (applications and steel solutions).
The main missions of the laboratory are : contribute to a low cost and sustainable production of structural long products, help to develop the steel market in construction (fire engineering, earthquake resistance, corrosion protection…), implement the developments with the internal clients in the plants or markets, internal and external benchmarking is an important related mission.Your roleWe are looking for a Research Engineer to develop Artificial intelligence systems. You will work on projects involving machine learning algorithms, neural networks, optimization methods, and other AI techniques.Roles and responsibilities include the following:
  • Lead transversal activities in quality control, production costs, and process optimization
  • Lead projects linked to AI in our Research Center to ensure quick win and upskilling of the local task force
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business problems and identify opportunities where AI can provide solutions
  • Develop and deploy AI models to production environments and integrate them with existing systems
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Conducting research tests and experiments to gather data on a particular project or product. Analyzing the data produced by the experiment and making any necessary adjustments to the study's design or results
  • Creating reports detailing test results and any conclusions drawn from those results. These reports may be prepared for internal use within their own company or agency, as well as for publication in scientific journals, trade publications, or technical manuals
  • Monitor and maintain existing and new models, addressing issues such as performance degradation and data drift using tools such as MLOPS.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientist, software engineer, and vision engineer
  • Provide clear and comprehensive documentation for code, models, processes, and user guides.

These responsibilities are typically performed at regular intervals to ensure the continuous improvement and innovation of products and services.
You will participate in our next phase of industrial development, following Industry 4.0. Industry 5.0 is characterized by the integration of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, into ArcelorMittal's industrial processes. There will also be occasional trips abroad to production facilities and frequent technical coordination with other ArcelorMittal Global R&D centers.Your profile
  • You hold a Master's degree in Engineering.
  • A first experience in a similar position is required. Significant industrial experience in Artificial Intelligence, including data collection, preparation, model architecture, and deployment procedure, is mandatory.
  • You are advanced in English and French.
  • You have strong skills in AI, Machine and Deep Learning.
  • You have good knowledge of at least one object-oriented language (Python, C++, DotNet).
  • In addition, knowledge of one or several of the following would constitute an advantage and highly valued:
  • Signal and Image processing
  • Exploitation of sensors (temperature, vibration, pressure, digital and analogue technology, embedded, wireless technology …)
  • Electronics
  • You are able to analyse a complex process, to integrate external knowledge and to implement practical solutions and work in an industrial environment.
  • You are ready to accept responsibility and willing to excel in your work.
  • You are able to lead and manage projects independently and deliver high quality results on deadlines.
  • You are persevering and creative in work and you can manage several projects in parallel.
  • Teamwork and customer minded approach is important.
