The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society.Your roleAs a postdoctoral researcher, you will analyze data from the Youth Survey Luxembourg (YSL). The YSL spans topics including attitudes, digitality, health, political participation, and the values of young people. In Luxembourg’s highly diverse society, there is an urgent need to understand how social background shapes life chances: your work will speak directly to that. You will also help design and collect future YSL waves and ensure findings reach the audience who can use them.The successful candidate will join the YSL research team at the Centre for Childhood and Youth Research (CCY) within the Department of Social Sciences (DSOC). The CCY is a multidisciplinary group investigating youth development and social inequalities, with strong connections to national and international research institutes and organizations.Your responsibilities:
  • Conduct policy-relevant research using quantitative analyses of YSL and comparative datasets
  • Publish findings in academic journals and policy-oriented reports
  • Contribute to the design and data collection of future YSL waves, with the opportunity to propose own items and survey experiments
  • Translate results into accessible outputs (e.g., policy briefs and data reports)
  • Present research at national and international conferences
  • Contribute to competitive funding applications

  • Excellent Ph.D. degree in sociology or a related social science discipline
  • Strong proficiency in data processing (e.g., using R, Stata, or Python)
  • Expertise in data collection and advanced statistical analysis; expertise in youth research is an asset
  • Proficiency (written and spoken) in at least two of the following languages is required: English, French, German. Luxembourgish is an asset
