Collaboration is a fundamental requirement for customer-centricity, agility, efficiency, and results achievement.Our department focuses on providing harmonized insurance solutions for the embedded insurance market integrating into day-to-day sales or sharing services, closing the insurance gap to make customers’ life easier.You will play a major role in our embedded insurance project by effectively assess risks, price insurance policies accurately, and contribute to the profitability and growth of the insurance business.You will work together with the international team – composed of different experts – dedicated to the launch of this new business, in a start-up and agile mode. We expect from you that by nature you think out of the box, you like to challenge dead ends and where necessary find solutions to break down walls.You will report to the Head of the International Non-Life department.To this end, we are looking for an Underwriting Manager.Remote freelance contract / Local unlimited contractYour main missions will be to:- Evaluate applicant information, claims history, market trends, and financial indicators to determine coverage eligibility and pricing with a solid understanding of insurance principles, policies, regulations, and industry trends. This includes knowledge of different types of insurance products, risk assessment methodologies, underwriting guidelines, and compliance requirements.
- Evaluate risks objectively, identify potential issues or inconsistencies in applications, and propose appropriate solutions or risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with our product managers and actuaries.
- Analyze complex data sets, risk assessment, and make informed underwriting decisions together with our actuaries and our product managers.
- Review policy terms, and documentation with a special attention to detail.
- Communicate effectively with our partners and other stakeholders (intern or extern), clearly convey complex insurance concepts, negotiate terms, commission models and address inquiries or concerns from customers or colleagues.
- Challenge pricing models, policy management, and data analyses in regard to efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging risks, regulatory changes, and advancements in technology or underwriting practices.
- Participate in the discussions on product design with our product managers and process optimization.What we expect:
  • Prior experience of several years in a similar role is highly desirable.• You hold a bachelor's degree preferably in fields such as insurance, risk management, finance, business administration, economics, mathematics, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or professional certifications are a plus.
  • You are a strong communicator and fluent in English, any other language is a plus.
  • Knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance requirements and familiarity with insurance policies, coverage types, and exclusions.
  • Proven ability to work with spreadsheets for data manipulation and analysis.
  • With a creative mind: you know how to imagine and implement new solutions and products.
  • Customer orientation, professional rigor, critical thinking and proactivity.
  • Agility and pragmatism in a complex and changing environment.
  • Occasional business trips to Luxembourg if working in a freelance framework.
