The Regulatory Intelligence, Safety and Compliance (RISC) team's charter is to protect Amazon customers from products that are illegal, illegally marketed, unsafe, or otherwise prohibited by Amazon policies.We are seeking an experienced EU/UK Safety Risk Manager to lead our product recalls and regulatory compliance efforts across the European Union and United Kingdom. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing recall communication strategies and regulatory reporting mechanisms, ensuring comprehensive management of product safety incidents and compliance with EU and UK safety standards.In this role, you will spearhead the development and execution of recall communication strategies for a wide range of EU/UK stakeholders. This includes national authorities in EU member states, the UK Office for Product Safety and Standards, and various regulatory bodies. You will be responsible for creating standardized procedures aligned with EU/UK requirements, developing market-specific investigation protocols, and establishing reporting templates for different jurisdictions. Designing tracking systems compliant with EU/UK data protection requirements will also fall under your purview.The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, possesses strong strategic thinking skills, and can seamlessly transition from strategy to execution. Independence in building stakeholder relationships and initiating new projects is essential. In this role, you will work closely with corporate counsel, legal, business teams, selling partner experience and support teams, operational excellence, product, BI and data science/engineering teams to deliver high-impact, end-to-end product recall governance.We are looking someone with experience in product safety, regulatory compliance, or quality assurance.Key job responsibilities
Lead complex product safety investigations and risk assessments across international markets, implementing scalable solutions and monitoring key risk indicatorsDrive global escalation protocols and coordinate cross-functional response teams (Legal, Product, Tech, Business), managing time-sensitive issues while balancing business needs with safety requirementsDevelop and maintain standardized investigation playbooks and compliance controls, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and contributing to policy developmentBuild and influence partnerships with stakeholders across multiple levels, driving effective collaboration across dispersed teams with competing prioritiesConduct data analysis to monitor investigation metrics and trends, preparing insights for leadership and implementing process improvements based on findingsAct as subject matter expert for product safety requirements, leading development of preventive measures and best practices across the organizationA day in the life
Your primary focus is managing product safety investigations that protect Amazon customers worldwide. On a typical day, you'll review critical safety alerts and prioritize cases that need immediate attention. You'll connect with worldwide teams to drive investigations and ensure consistent approaches.You'll analyze safety trends and recommend preventive actions while guiding teams through complex cases. Your day includes collaborating with global teams and meeting with senior leaders to review high-impact investigations.Beyond regular duties, you will help develop new investigation frameworks and lead special customer-safety projects, working with cross-functional teams to maintain Amazon's high trust standards.About the team
The Trustworthy Shopping Experience (TSE) organization at Amazon focuses on building and maintaining customer trust in Amazon's shopping platforms. Working with authorities, merchants, brands, vendors, and customers, the team identifies and prevents various risks, particularly around product safety and intellectual property infringement. They leverage technical expertise and technology solutions to ensure all products offered across Amazon's channels comply with safety requirements and regulations, protecting customers while maintaining a secure shopping environment.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
- Experience handling confidential information
- Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship
- Excellent communication skills, ability to simplify complex topicsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Additional degree / certification in Risk Management, Safety Management, or related field
- Demonstrated success in implementing standardized processes and investigation methodologies across international teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to navigate ambiguous situations and drive decisions
